STRIVE offers an array of employment programs. Although each program is for different populations and includes different components, each includes some degree of job readiness (including interview preparation and resume writing), occupational skills training (leading to industry-recognized credentials), job placement, and support.
Career Pathways Program
STRIVE's signature four-week job readiness workshop prepares participants for the responsibilities of the workplace and the process of attaining employment.
Occupational Skills Training
Six weeks of occupational skills training that results in industry-recognized credentials. Skills training tracks are based on industry demand in New York City.
Optional, subsidized eight-week internships at STRIVE's employer partners. Includes a weekly "30 Ways to Shine" workshop on Fridays at STRIVE. Must be 18-24 to participate.
Job Replacement & Replacement
Graduates are given a lifetime of access to our job placement and career coaching services.
Career Advancement Training
Advanced skills training and supervisory training for incumbent workers. Training is based on employer demand and participant need. Must have held a job for at least six months to apply.
Parenting & Economic Security
Strong Fathers, Stronger Families
Two-week course that includes economic stability, responsible parenting, and healthy relationships, followed by job training and placement. Certifications offered include Security, Commercial Drivers License, Barber Training, OSHA-10, Flagging, Food Handlers, and HHA/CNA. Program open to all fathers and mothers 18 and older.
STRIVE Future Leaders
A youth employment model developed by STRIVE that provides training and support for young adults between the ages of 18-24 who have been involved in the juvenile or adult justice system. Included in the program are: legal services and support to ensure participants are set up for a successful future, Active Career Exploration, community service projects, job readiness and skills training, industry-recognized credentials, subsidized internships, and job placement and retention services. Certifications offered include CPR/First Aid, OSHA-10, Food Handlers, Flagging, Scaffolding, and Microsoft Word and Excel. Must be between 18 and 24 and have a history of court involvement or justice involvement to enroll.
Re-Entry Employment Services
Takes place on Rikers Island and then at STRIVE. Pre-release job readiness and construction skills training, industry-recognized certifications, and post-release supportive services, transitional employment, and job placement to support a successful return home.
